Off The Written Path

      Off The Written Path is my journalism blog. I’m Antonieta Rico. I’m a former soldier with almost seven years experience as a public affairs specialist/military journalist for the U.S. Army.

     I have covered the Iraq War twice for the military. I first deployed in 2004-2005 for a month-long assignment to escort civilian journalists to Camp Liberty in Baghdad. In my second deployment I spent almost a year covering combat operations in Iraq, embedding with infantry troops during major operations in the country and also during their day-to-day missions.      I’m now a journalism student at George Mason University majoring in Communication. I’m also a proud mother of two, and an Army wife. I contribute to the Broadside, the student newspaper at Mason. You can contact me at arico@masonlive.gmu.edu.
